Today, I ended a 5 1/2 day juice & smoothie fast.
My blender’s never seen so much action…and that’s saying a lot…but more on that later.
In blender-related news, tonight’s post is about my first attempt at blending AND heating raw soup in my Vitamix!
For all the doubters [like myself] I would like to go on the record saying YES, the Vitamix actually DOES heat soup! And not just slightly-above-room-temperature warm either, we’re talking steam-rising-from-the-bowl-but-you-won’t-burn-the-roof-of-your-mouth hot!
So, without further ado, here’s my very first blender soup recipe:
1 handful spinach
1 garlic clove
1/4 c. red onion [set aside a few pieces to garnish]
2-3 basil leaves
salt & pepper to taste
Place all ingredients in blender & process together until smooth.
[Start on low speed & gradually move to high to ensure proper blending.]
Add water as needed to achieve your desired soup texture.
Continue to process on high for 2-4 minutes, until soup is heated.
Pour into a bowl, garnish as desired, & enjoy.
